Michael O’Leary gives staff a hand checking passengers in

This has to be the WTF moment of the week – so far! The airline boss was spotted checking passengers in on a flight to London this morning. Dublin-based artistic director, Gary Dunne (@GaryDunne), spotted Mr O’Leary and tweeted the picture. Ryanair might have been low on staff numbers that day (I highly doubt it!) or perhaps he just loves a good media stunt.  Some Twitter users responded that this is not the first time he has been seen doing this.

O’Leary said recently that the company wants to double its profits to €2bn per annum. The airline boss also said that he wants to turn the firm’s website into the “Amazon for travel in Europe”, offering services such as accommodation as well as flights. Mr O’Leary’s comments come after the business significantly upgraded its profit forecast for the year earlier this month to between €1.18bn and €1.23bn. He is quoted in The Irish Times as saying;  “It’s not because of brilliant marketing, it’s not because we’re nice to people, it’s because Michael Noonan and the Irish Government took a brave decision to abolish that tax… I want to play compliment to him and his Government at the time.”
